James A. Wealleans, DMD

Dr. Wealleans is originally from New Zealand and moved to the USA when he was 19. He joined the US Army as a dental assistant in 1995. While in the Army he became a Dental Hygienist and eventually a practice manager. In 2002, he entered Dental School at Nova Southeastern College of Dental Medicine in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. He graduated with honors in 2006 and was inducted into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon National Honor Dental Society. After graduation he entered the US Air Force and completed a 1 year Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) at the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs. While in the AEGD he applied and was accepted into the joint University of Texas Health and Science Center San Antonio (UTHSCSA)/ Air Force Endodontic program. In 2010, he received a Certificate in Endodontics and was assigned to Kadena Air Base in Okinawa Japan. One year later James became a Diplomate of the American Board of Endodontics. Currently Dr. Wealleans is the Director of Endodontic Residency and Training at Wilford Hall Ambulatory Surgical Center, Lackland Air Force Base. Dr Wealleans holds faculty appointments with UTHSCSA and the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences.
